A digital vehicle inspection is the walk-around your technician already does — with photos, measurements and a link the customer can open on their phone. Instead of being told the belt is cracked, they see it.

Start one

  1. Open the repair order for the car.
  2. In the Inspection section, tap Start inspection.
  3. The first time, your standard 20-point checklist is created for you. You can change it later under Shop settings → Inspection checklists.

Walk the car

Work one category at a time (Brakes, Tires, Under hood…). For each item tap:

  • Good — checked, nothing needed.
  • Watch — will need attention soon.
  • Needs work — needs attention now.

Tapping a result opens the row so you can add:

  • a reading (pad thickness in mm, tread in /32) where the item asks for one,
  • a short note — remember the customer reads it,
  • up to six photos per item, straight from the camera.

Finish and share

Tap Complete inspection when you're done. Items you never got to stay marked as not inspected — that's honest, and the customer's report leaves them out rather than showing blanks. A completed inspection can't be edited.

Then tap Share with customer: the phone number is filled in from the repair order, and they get a text with a link to the report.

Turn findings into work

On any Watch or Needs work item, tap Add to estimate. It becomes a recommended job on the repair order, with the inspection result written into the concern ("Inspection: RED — 2 mm"), ready for you to price. Each finding can be added once.

Adding a job changes the estimate, so any approval link you already texted stops accepting a signature. Send it again after you've priced the new work.
